Kalashni-con – Russian Weapons Convention

Post date:

It’s no secret that some of the team at Reaper Feed have an obsession with the world of the Kalashnikov. In the past, we’ve covered articles on the Kalashnikov electric car, Kalashnikov Vodka, and more. In this article, we’re going to look at the legendary Kalashnikov themed event that is Kalashni-con!

Since it was created in 1947 by Mikhail Kalashnikov to engage the nations enemies, the Kalashnikov is easily one of the most iconic weapons on earth and is naturally popular in the motherland of private gun ownership: the USA. However, due to sanctions imposed on Russia in 2014 following the annexation of Crimea, the supply of Russian imported weapons stopped. But America is the land of the business-minded and soon domestically produced Kalashnikov models were being produced by arms manufacturers in the US.

hosted by Tactical Sh*t and sponsored by the Palmetto State Armory, Kalashni-Con is held at various locations outside of Houston, Texas. The event is a weekend of competitive shooting centered around the world’s most legendary assault rifle and features a range of attendees from gun collectors and Kalashnikov enthusiasts to competitive shooters.

We would like to thank everyone at Kalashni-con for an incredible event this past weekend. We had so much fun shooting those challenging, well thought-out stages. The scenarios, physicality, and variety accounted for a wide spectrum of 2-gun skills to perform; many of them were humbling (to me, anyhow) and that’s why we love coming here.

– A review for Kalashni-con

Running over three days, this AK platform shoot-out usually has around 60 spaces available for participants which means booking in advance is essential. The day of firepower related fun is broken up by a classic Texas BBQ with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs!

The range of dynamic competitions and drills held, such as the THOT Vaccine, during Kalashni-con is competitively fought over due to some high-end prizes up for grabs from scopes and AK47 receivers to weird flags and Soviet watches. Registration for the Kalashni-con event is done on Practiscore.

The prices are inclusive of the range fee and are as follows:

  • 3-day event pass: $100
  • 2-day pass: $90
  • 3-day pass: $70

Unfortunately, Kalashni-con doesn’t have a website but they do have a Facebook page which you can check for regular updates relating to the event and the world of Kalashnikovs.

At Reaper Feed we’re only too happy to help provide a platform for up and coming shooting events across the US. If you have an independent business or event you would like to have published, simply get in touch with our team to discuss it and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
